has been performing in public since the age of eleven. He has appeared as a soloist with all of Poland’s leading orchestras. In 2001, he made his debut with the Munich Philharmonic under the direction of Pinchas Steinberg, performing Karol Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1.

As a chamber musician, he has performed with artists including Heinz Holliger, Paavali Jumppanen, Garrick Ohlsson, Paul Gulda, Bartosz Bednarczyk, Jan Krzysztof Broja, Szymon Nehring, Michel Lethiec, Elina Vähäla, Anna Maria Staśkiewicz, Ruth Killius, Katarzyna Budnik, Avri Levitan, Tomoko Akasaka, Gareth Lubbe, Andrzej Bauer, Tomasz Strahl, Alexander Gebert, Rafał Kwiatkowski, Marcin Zdunik, Zvi Plesser, Timmo-Veikko Valve and Julius Berger. He is also associated with two string quartets: he has been a member of the Zehetmair Quartet since 2006, and from 2008 to 2014 served as first violinist of the Lutosławski Quartet. Jakub Jakowicz is a laureate of the 2003 “Polityka Passport” award. In 2007, he received the “Orpheus” Award at the Warsaw Autumn Festival. In 2018, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Witold Lutosławski’s music, he was awarded the Medal of the Centenary of the Composer’s Birth by the Witold Lutosławski Society. He is also a two-time laureate of the “Fryderyk” Award, one of the most prestigious distinctions in the Polish recording industry.

During the 2024/25 season, he performed as a soloist with, among others, the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, appeared at the W. Lutosławski Studio in Warsaw during the anniversary concert of the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra and Agnieszka Duczmal, and performed with the Gdańsk and Łódź Philharmonic Orchestras. He also served on the jury of the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition in Katowice and took part in prestigious international festivals, including Szczecin Classic and the Naantali Music Festival in Finland. He performed and taught as a guest artist at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in Melbourne. He also began a collaboration with pianist Szymon Nehring and cellist Marcin Zdunik, forming a piano trio.

Jakub Jakowicz is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he teaches violin.
